“Our Night Out”

Come and join our night out on the go!

A night of light where your worries will disappear

See our smiles and happy tears that flow!

We promise you our hearts and ready ears.

First we’ll perform our wudu one by one,

Ensuring every limb is wet and clean,

We’ll offer two rakat before our night’s begun,

Our night will open solemn and serene.

Then we’ll don our caps and baggy trousers

Slapping on the best attar around!

And out we go all linking arm in arm,

Heading for our local masjid down the road.

And there we’ll enter carefully, right foot first.

We’ll greet the mosque with warm, honest delight.

The turbaned man will read the blessed verses,

We’ll pray Allah will bless our chosen night.

Then we’ll march all jolly up the town

Gathering at the famous rupture dome.

And there we’ll join the raq of wild renown

Bowing, rocking, swaying while all intone.

We’ll budge up close to share some rice and curry

Making sure all have a healthy share,

Sitting on our knees we needn’t worry

Our stomachs settle well without a care.

And then we’ll lie out in the spacious yard

Staring at the silent sparkling sky

The blessed winds brushing by like soft foulard

The hints of sunrise appearing by and by.

And homewards you’ll remark our sober eyes

Although our hearts are dancing in the skies.
