Uprising

by Novid Shaid, April, 2011

The uprising

upsurges, escalating,

preparing the ground for

a ground breaking

an earth-shattering

downfall

of the monolithic pyramids of stone

the toppling of the fearsome rock faces,

which fall down with full force,

smashing into tiny fragments,

swept away by the winds of inevitability.

A downpour of torrential hope

floods the land, engulfing the entire planet,

then slowly seeps away through the cracks,

sinking, soaking through the recesses of the earth,

drying up

until an army of ants, emerges, regroups, gathers the debris

laying the foundations

of another impressive form in the spellbinding sands of time.

Way below, dripping drops of hope begin filling gaps again

gaps which will eventually fill

as the new shadows grow impressively above,

and the hope can’t stand to be contained.

Rising, falling, sinking, standing, the earth persists,

ants will be ants and hope never desists.
